  • Tea Tonic– lavender, earl grey iced tea topped with Mediterranean fever tree tonic and finished with fresh herbs
  • Virgin Alexander– tomato juice, tabasco, Worcester sauce, lemon and spices, finished with a celery stick
  • Copper & Lawrence– fresh apple juice, cinnamon & pear syrup, finished with a cinnamon glaze

Here at Alexander’s, we like to start the day healthy and flavourful, with a breakfast or brunch that’s full of fibre and protein to keep you going.

  • Organic Porridge– with a berry compote or maple syrup and banana
  • Homemade Granola & Organic Yoghurt– with fresh berries or banana
  • Eggs Cooked Your Way– poached egg with salmon, grilled haloumi, spinach and tomato salsa or avocado with chilli, lime and tomato salsa

If you’re not an early riser, you can still get in on the healthy action with a Lightly Spiced Cauliflower Soup with a Carrot and Courgette Bhaji for lunch or a vibrant Whitby Crab Salad served with Tomato Jelly and Sourdough Croutons, available all day.

Drink Healthy

What better ‘pick-me-up’ than a good Alexander’s brew. The heavenly spices and fragrant aromas of a loose leaf tea are just what the doctor ordered when you need a little lift on a busy day.

Or, if you prefer to chill out rather than turn up the heat, there’s no simpler way to get your 5 a day than with one of our Breakfast Smoothies, packed full of fruits and vegetables.

  • Range of green teas Organic Ceylon Green Orange Pekoe, Gunpowder Tea with Peppermint, Sencha Green Tea with Elderflower and Raspberry
  • Loose leaf teas and tisanes Organic Whole Camomile Blossoms Tisane, Organic Makaibari Second Flush Darjeeling, Organic Lemongrass and Ginger Tisane, Organic Estate Breakfast Tea
  • Breakfast smoothies:  Raspberry Razzle– raspberry, mango, blueberry, banana and apple juice / Feeling Dandy– carrot, lemon, lime, pineapple, papaya and orange juice / In Good Health– kale, lemongrass, ginger, spinach, banana and mango

Give Me Sunshine

Garden Terrace | New Year Health Kicks at Alexander's Skipton

A small dose of sunshine brightens up anyone’s day and has added health benefits to boot. Alexander’s Secret Garden and Terrace is the perfect outdoor haven, with stunning views overlooking the Leeds Liverpool Canal.

  • Exposure to UV rays helps release nitric oxide, a compound which increases your energy levels and lowers blood pressure
  • Vitamin D through sunlight enhances your mood
  • Being outdoors during the day helps shut off the body’s melatonin production, the hormone that makes you drowsy at night. This will help regulate your body clock and keep you bright and alert during the day

Get Active- Healthy Habits

Exercise | New Year Health Kicks at Alexander's Skipton

Sneak these healthy habits into your everyday routine to give calorie burning a boost. When you have a busy schedule, finding a few moments each day to get active is essential.

  • Take the stairs instead of the escalator or lift- all those steps add up!
  • Go for a walk at lunch to break up your work day and give your metabolism a boost
  • Think of housework as exercise rather than a chore. Did you know an hour of ironing can burn off up to 157 calories?
  • Go the long way around! Get off the bus a stop before you usually would
  • Find a fun alternative to treadmills- if going to the gym doesn’t appeal; find an active hobby that you enjoy. See below for ideas!

Try Something New

Cycling | New Year Health Kicks at Alexander's Skipton

Amp up your New Year’s resolutions and challenge yourself by taking up a new active hobby. At Alexander’s, we love taking advantage of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales right on our doorstep and here are a few ways you could too:

  • Start a walking group with friends- having an exercise companion drives you to go further. At the end of your route, you can even stop by Alexander’s for a warming drink! Remember, dogs are always welcome in the Parlour and on our covered Garden Terrace
  • Climbing- whether indoors or going all out, this is a great way to build up muscle and endurance
  • Cycling- offers beneficial aerobic exercise and a great reason to explore the striking Yorkshire countryside. Join us on Sunday 6th May 2018 as cyclists soar past Alexander’s when the Tour de Yorkshire passes through Skipton
