When one of our great friends, David Goldie told us about the Yorkshire boundary bike ride that he and pals, Kevin Wharton, Ray Cryer and Rich Newall were proposing to complete in aid of Brain Tumour Research and Support across Yorkshire (BTRS) – we knew immediately we wanted to help.

And, what could be more apt than us pledging 10% of the sales of our Goldie’s beer for the duration of the campaign? Especially since our signature beer was named in honour of David and the eponymous ‘David Goldie’s’ clothes shop which was one of the longest standing and best known incumbents of our 4-6 High Street location.

Just to ensure the epic ride finished in fitting style, we also pledged to roll out the red carpet to welcome them back, providing complimentary drinks to all who had sponsored the team.

The ‘Four auld fellas’ (so named – thanks to their combined age of 265) concluded their 412 mile ride on July 19th, raising just short of their £5K target.

David Goldie said: “It was an epic ride in which we embraced all weathers, but after the first day which was the toughest, we settled into it well. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who sponsored us and also to Alexander’s Bar & Restaurant which raised nearly £500 through sales of its Goldie’s beer as well hosting the welcome back party for us.”
