We are delighted to announce that we will be celebrating the first anniversary of our monthly Gin & Jazz next week!
Since its first birthday coincides with the American festival, Jazz Appreciation Month, we have endeavoured to keep the true roots and history of jazz music at the heart of our Tuesday 2 April event – and so are pleased to announce that we will be hosting an evening of West Coast Jazz from talented saxophonist, Laurie Covell.
With the evening starting at 7pm and music from 8pm, Covell, a student of Leeds College of Music and founder of the college’s SU Big Band, will be playing a range of smooth jazz classics from the likes of Dave Brubeck and Miles Davis.
Over the last twelve months Alexander’s has hosted a stellar line up of jazz singers and musicians including Boisdale Music Award nominee, Tom Seals and star of the big screen, Maria Watton-Graham.
Our Gin & Jazz is free to attend and offers guests the opportunity to enjoy high quality live music in an informal atmosphere and our talented bar staff are on hand to recommend cocktails and pairings from our extensive menu of over 30 gins.
Jazz Appreciation Month was created in 2001 with funding from the Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation and aims to honour jazz as an early American art form.
