Both from farming families, R&J was founded in 1978 by husband & wife team Robert & Jo Atkinson.

Now in its fifth generation, R&J is managed by their son Ryan; although as you can see above, Robert & Jo are still very much involved in the day-to-day running of the business.

With a 30 year history, R&J is a butcher with deep roots to the land. With their own Limousin & Charolais herds  & an abundant farming heritage, they supply some of the choicest fresh meats & poultry in the north of England from their farm at Kirkby Malzeard, Ripon, in the Yorkshire Dales.

 

R&J is one of the few catering butchers in the country to maintain their own herds & an informal cooperative of suppliers who have all been chosen for their focus on taste, free grazing & animal welfare.
